Lucero Ponce
hoop, silk fans, belly dance

Lucero Ponce is a Peruvian Flow Artist whose movement style is pure magic — blending hula hoop, belly dance, buugeng, and balancing into an expressive, hypnotic flow. Her vibe is a fusion of technical mastery and deep body awareness, turning every performance into an experience.

Lucero’s journey started in 2010 with modern, belly, and contemporary dance, along with yoga and meditation. Flow Arts entered her life in 2015, through hoop — and from there, everything expanded. She brings the grace of a dancer, the presence of a yogi, and the fire of a performer to every prop she touches.

As one half of Equilibra, her world-traveling duo with Gustavo Ollitta, Lucero has performed across 25+ countries, lighting up festival stages, retreats, and international shows. Whether she’s on stage or leading a workshop, she’s always innovating — blending circus, dance, and flow to inspire the next generation of movers.

VOJTA Stolbenko
Poi, Staff spinning, Staff Juggling, Body Movement

Meet Vojta, the Czech-born flow artist, acrobat, and an innovator in the Poi world today. Known for his next-level technique and high-energy performances, Vojta blends movement, fire, and creativity to push the boundaries of what’s possible with spinning.

With over a decade of experience, he’s not just a top-tier performer — he’s helped shape the global flow scene. He’s toured and trained with legendary troupes like Supercho, Cercle de Feu, Mandalights, and Phoenix Fire Dancers, lighting up stages from Europe to Asia and beyond. Whether it’s spinning fire, flipping through the air, or dropping precise tech combos, his flow is sharp, dynamic, and unforgettable.

Off stage, Vojta is just as impactful. He’s the creator of PoiTutorials.com, where he shares over 150 step-by-step tutorials and epic videos — including the viral hit The Future Is Now. He’s a passionate teacher, hosting workshops and retreats around the world, always down to share knowledge and hype up the next generation of spinners.

If you’re looking for inspo, innovation, and insane skill — Vojta delivers.

Gustavo Ollitta
Buugeng, dragon kite, handstands

Meet Gustavo Ollitta — the Brazilian flow sorcerer who turned Buugeng into a legit art form. 🔥✨

He kicked off his journey in 2007 spinning Poi, but the game really changed in 2009 when he picked up Buugeng — and never looked back. In 2010, he dropped his now-iconic YouTube vid “Flow” — and boom 💥 — over 2.5 million views later, Gustavo became that guy in the Buugeng world.

By 2011, he was leveling up hard — training in contemporary circus at Scuola di Cirko Vertigo in Italy 🇮🇹. That’s where he added Slack Rope, handstands, and next-level performance skills to his already stacked toolkit.

Now, with his signature mix of smooth control and wild creativity, Gustavo’s not just a performer — he’s a movement magician.🌀💫

John Colins
CONTACT STAFF

John — aka Yonnic Collins — is a skilled and passionate flow artist based in Guanajuato, Mexico. With over a decade in the game, he’s built a name for himself as a multi-prop master, rocking everything from contact staff, dragon and double staff to poi, meteor, Thai staff, and chucks.

He’s all about spreading the joy of movement. For the past several years, he’s been travelling the world teaching workshops and connecting with the global flow fam. Most recently, John started hosting his own flow retreat in Guanajuato, and now he’s coming full circle — teaching at GuateFlow, where his journey first started nearly 12 years ago… on a bicycle adventure through Central America.

Catch him in action and feel the passion — John brings deep skill, heart, and hype to every class.

Luke O'Connell
double staff, yoga & conditioning

Luke fell in love with Flow Arts and Circus as a teenager, and 17 years later, his passion for dance and movement has taken him on an incredible journey. He’s a pro with Single and Double Staff, Poi, Fire Fans, Dragon Staff, and even Fire Eating and Sword performances. In 2016, Luke took his skills global, touring Europe and the UK, wowing audiences. Now based in the Netherlands, he continues performing with his group Luminosity while collaborating with Lumino, Lights in Motion, and Super Cho.

Luke’s excited to share his expertise with a mix of Yoga, Meditation, and Double Staff mastery. Whether you’re a seasoned Flow Artist or just beginning, he offers a fun and rewarding experience. You’ll dive into dynamic and static stretching, flexibility tips, and strength training, all designed to enhance your Flow Arts journey. This retreat is one you won’t want to miss!

a day at the retreat

Start Your Day with Yoga
Wake up with the jungle and ground yourself in our beautiful open-air shala at Starry Mountain. Surrounded by insane views, you’ll flow through a morning session led by Luke. It’s the perfect way to wake up your body, centre your mind, and set the tone for an epic day ahead.

Morning Flow Workshops
Right after breakfast, we dive into daily workshops in Poi, Buugeng, and other flow arts. Classes happen at Eagle’s Nest, Starry Mountain, and a nearby 3rd deck — all a 5-minute walk from each other. Whether you’re levelling up your tech or trying something new, the mornings are all about movement, connection, and unlocking new skills.

Lunch Buffet with a View
Midday = fuel up! We’ll gather at Eagle’s Nest for a daily buffet packed with fresh veggies and local flavours. Whether you’re into vegan, vegetarian, or meat options, we’ve got you. Eat well, soak in the views, and chill with your new flow fam before the next round of adventures.

Afternoon Jams & Special Events
Afternoons bring even more workshops and sunset jams with volcano views that will blow your mind. Some days we’ll mix it up — think flow festivals, lake adventures, and even a boat trip to a party on the other side of Lake Atitlán. It’s a vibe.

70+ Hours of Workshops!
Yep, you read that right — 70+ hours of workshops to dive into. Expect full tracks for Buugeng, Hoop, and Silk Fans again this year. Want a sneak peek? You can check out our last edition’s schedule to get the feel. The new one drops a few weeks before kickoff.

IS GUATEFLOW FOR ME?

All levels. All love. All in.
Whether you’ve been spinning poi for 10 years or just found out what Buugeng is yesterday — you belong at GuateFlow. Most workshops offer beginner, intermediate, and advanced options, so wherever you’re at in your flow journey, there’s a space for you to grow.

For poi especially, we split groups by level to keep it fun, focused, and frustration-free.
👉 Total beginner? We got your back (and a prop to borrow).
👉 Experienced spinner? Get ready to upgrade your flow.

GuateFlow is about exploring, laughing, dropping stuff, and doing weird tricks on a volcano-view dance floor with people who totally get the obsession 💚

Eagle's Nest Resort

Eagle’s Nest Atitlán isn’t just a retreat centre — it’s an experience. Perched high above Lake Atitlán in Guatemala, this place gives you insane views of volcanoes, jungle, and sky. You’ll wake up to epic sunrises, move your body in a mountaintop shala, and vibe with a global crew of artists, spinners, dancers, and seekers.

This space was made for creativity and connection. Think: open-air movement decks, sunset jams, fire circles, cacao ceremonies, and deep convos over the best food ever. Whether you’re flowing, dancing, relaxing, or just finding your centre — Eagle’s Nest is where the magic hits differently.

Eagle’s Nest has the best accommodations, many of which include private terraces and outdoor showers, and are designed with sustainable materials, including compost toilets, solar hot-water showers, and bio-construction. 🌿

Nourishing Meals
We’ll all have lunch together at Eagle’s Nest! Three home-cooked, wholesome meals per day (vegetarian and meat options), prepared fresh by the local café kitchen team using locally sourced ingredients.

Temazcal Sauna & Plunge Pool
Enjoy a traditional Mayan temazcal sauna multiple times per week (typically Monday, Wednesday, Friday – free for outsiders on Friday!), followed by a cold plunge pool—pure bliss and wellness in one experience

What about food?

Depending on your accommodation, lunch is included or, if you’re staying at Eagle’s Nest, three meals per day are included. For workshop tickets, no food is included.

For breakfast, you can order it from the Starry Mountain restaurant (even if you’re not staying there), or pick something up from the local shops. Also, the Eagle’s Nest restaurant has a delicious breakfast menu.

Lunch is a daily highlight — we’ll all eat together at Eagle’s Nest. It’s a delicious buffet with lots of fresh vegetables, salads, carbs, and your choice of protein. You can choose between vegetarian and meat options. If you’re vegan or have food intolerances, please note this in the form so the kitchen team can accommodate your needs.

For dinner, it depends on the night. Sometimes we’ll stay up the mountain for sunset jams and communal meals (the kitchen staff at Starry can cook something tasty for a fair price), or we stay at Eagle’s Nest, and you can always order at their restaurant.

Other times, we’ll head down to the village for fire jams, parties, beach time, or just to explore. Downtown offers a variety of restaurant options. If you’re staying somewhere with a kitchen, you can always cook your own meals too.
It’s all super flexible — just go with the flow.

Acatanango Hike

The Acatenango hike is a bucket-list adventure — but make no mistake, it’s physically demanding. The hike is optional, following GuateFlow, on February 9-10.
It starts in the early morning of the 9th and lasts until the afternoon of the 10th. The cost will be around 175 euros, depending on the number of people in our group.

The trek takes about 5–7 hours uphill on day one, gaining over 1,500 meters in elevation, so be ready for steep inclines, high altitude (base camp sits at 3,600 meters), and cooler temps as you climb. That said, you don’t need to be an elite athlete — just reasonably fit, mentally prepared, and willing to go slow and steady.

The trail winds through farmland, misty cloud forests, and volcanic gravel paths. It’s tough, but the views are absolutely next level, especially once you reach base camp and see Volcán de Fuego erupting in real time, just across the valley. We’ll have our private GuateFlow group, complete with multiple guides, hot meals, and essential gear like warm sleeping bags and tents — which is key because it gets really cold at night, often close to freezing.

The next morning, you can optionally summit Acatenango’s peak for sunrise — a final 90-minute push that’s steep but insanely rewarding. Hiking with a private group makes the whole experience more chill and connected: you can move at your own pace, support one another, and soak in one of Guatemala’s most unforgettable experiences — together.

You can reserve the hike around one month before the retreat (no worries, there will be enough space, we’ll just get more guides)
The Acatenango hike is available only in good weather conditions, as safety is the top priority. That said, during this time of year, the weather is usually favourable — with clear skies, dry trails, and breathtaking views of the erupting Fuego Volcano

All levels, for any prop or activity, are welcome to join! We’ll offer beginning, intermediate, and advanced options for most techniques. For the Poi workshops, we split the group into different levels.

To benefit the most from this retreat, familiarise yourself with the basic poi moves, such as 3-beat weaves (forward and backwards), windmills, watermills, hip-reels, turns (butterflies, same-time, and split-time), and buzzsaws.

If you can’t do some of the moves listed above, don’t worry! We will teach you that. However, if you want to be prepared, look up some tutorials; we recommend Poi Tutorials.com, which starts as a beginner for only $4.95 per month.

You don’t need to know other attendees to share a room!

If you want to share a room with other attendees, we’ll try to make a match. You can share your preferences with us; if you prefer to stay with people of the same gender, we’ll try to find matching roommates.

LUNCH:
We’ll have lunch all together at Eagle’s Nest. It’s a delicious buffet featuring a variety of fresh and tasty vegetables, salads, different carbohydrates, and your choice of protein.

There are vegetarian and meat options available. As well as vegan, but please note that in the form. Additionally, if you have food intolerances, please indicate them in the form.

DINNER:
Every day, there will be a different evening program. Sometimes we’ll stay at Starry Mountain or Eagle’s Nest, but other times we’ll go down to the village for fire jams or parties. When there’s a program at Starry Mountain, a communal meal will be prepared by the kitchen staff for a reasonable price.

This means that, depending on the program, you will have one or multiple restaurants or options to choose from every evening.

If you’re staying somewhere with a kitchen, you can also choose to cook for yourself.

There are many supermarkets, shops and restaurants in the village. It’s about a 650-meter walk to the beginning of the “Hippie Highway,” which features many shops.

It will take you around 10 minutes to walk the 600 meters down. Up, though, is another story! It’s very steep, and unless you live in high mountains or are training for a marathon, it probably will take around double the time to go up again…

Please bring all the necessary props to attend the workshops you are interested in. If you don’t have some props, you can rent many from us. However, we also have to fly them in, so there will be a rental fee because of this. Please note on the form if you would like to rent any props. There, you will also see the exact rental fee.

PROPS/ DISCIPLINES
– Poi: rental available
– Hoop: rental available
– Buugeng: rental available
– Silk Fans: rental available
– Long Staff: rental available
– Double Staff: rental available
– Yoga Mats: freely available for use
– Dragon Kite: freely available during the workshop
– Contact Staff: no rentals available
– Dragon Staff: no rentals available – Any other prop: no rentals available

These are all practice props/ daytime props. We don’t have any fire props to borrow. However, you can also ask other attendees if you’d like to borrow a fire prop.

The fuel we use to spin in Guatemala is Kerosene. It’s not the most fantastic option, but it’s the only affordable spinning fuel available over there…

Kerosene burns hotter than Lamp Oil (for EU people), but the burning temperature is comparable to white gas (US usage). It also smells stronger than Lamp Oil, so it’s recommended to wear a mask.

There is lamp oil available, but it costs around 10 euros per litre, so it’s really expensive! If you’d like, you can purchase it for yourself for a better experience.

We think if you use common sense, you won’t have trouble. It’s a beautiful country to visit, and you’ll meet many friendly and wonderful people. Guatemala for sure faces its own set of challenges, including poverty and significant levels of gang violence. However, these issues typically don’t affect tourists, and as stated in the UK Foreign Office advice, “Despite the elevated crime rates, most visits to Guatemala are trouble-free.”

We’re arranging a shuttle from the airport so that everyone can come together with a trusted guide. Rodrigo, our local friend is very trustworthy, we’ve been working with him for 4 years now, and he will make sure everyone will arrive safely at San Marcos la Laguna. San Marcos is a small village, and relatively safe; there haven’t been any major problems with tourists.

We advise you to use Uber only, as their rating system is trustworthy, and avoid using unknown taxis. The same applies to hotels; find a place with a lot of reviews on platforms like Booking or Agoda if you want to stay close to the airport for a night.

These are our GuateFlow Guidelines to keep everyone safe during the retreat;
– Never walk alone after dark from the village up. This is mainly due to the presence of street dogs and possibly intoxicated individuals. But walking together is more fun anyway! Or take a tuk-tuk up, it’s very cheap, less than 1,5 euros.
– Only use trusted tuk-tuk drivers; other tuk-tuk drivers are not allowed to get into the resort gates. If you want help with carrying your luggage, only the trusted tuk-tuk drivers are allowed to do so (the list will be provided)

We recommend having good travel insurance that covers you for medical treatment and personal possessions.
We can’t guarantee anything, but there haven’t been any problems in the last three years, and we think if you use common sense you won’t have trouble, it’s a beautiful country to visit and you’ll meet many friendly and wonderful people.
