Planning your journey to our China Flow Retreat in the stunning Wuyishan mountains? Getting from Fuzhou Changle International Airport (福州长乐国际机场) to the secluded Jiangxi Village (浆溪村) is easier than you might think — but it does require some preparation. In this guide, we walk you through every step of the journey, with two route options to suit your travel style.
📍 Origin: Fuzhou Changle International Airport (福州长乐国际机场)
📍 Destination: Jiangxi Village (浆溪村), Yangzhuang, Wuyishan, Fujian — 27.809° N, 117.948° E
📏 Distance: ~250 km (155 mi) northwest through Fujian Province
You have two options: a direct road transfer A (the simplest) or a high-speed train + taxi combination B (the fastest).
We recommend the direct transfer for everybody who’s arriving on the 10th, or wants it to be as easy as possible. We will arrange the shared (mini) bus and shared taxis 😉
💡 Tip: Here is an article on how to grab a Taxi and catch a Train in China
One vehicle, zero transfers, maximum comfort.
Transport: Pre-arranged minibus taxi • Driving time: 3h 45min – 4h 20min • Distance: ~340 km (211 mi) via expressway • Door-to-door: 4.5 – 5 hours
After landing at Fuzhou Changle International Airport, allow 30–45 minutes to clear immigration, collect your luggage, and pass through customs. The airport has two terminals: T1 for domestic flights and T2 for international arrivals.
Once you exit the arrivals hall, your pre-arranged driver will be waiting in the pick-up area, holding a sign with your name or the retreat name.
💡 Tip: Pick up a local SIM card from one of the airport convenience stores. Having mobile data makes the rest of your trip much smoother — WeChat (and Alipay) are essential in rural China.
Sit back and enjoy the ride. Your driver handles the entire route while you watch the landscape transform from coastal city to mountain wilderness.
The drive in four stages:
1. Fuzhou Airport → Fuzhou City (30 min) — Via Konggang Boulevard onto the Shenhai Expressway (G15), heading north through Fuzhou’s urban area.
2. Fuzhou → Nanping (1.5 hours) — North on the Jingfu Expressway (G3) through Minqing and Gutian counties. Rolling green hills and river valleys appear. Nanping is a good midway rest stop.
3. Nanping → Wuyishan Area (1.5 hours) — Northwest through Jian’ou, joining the Ningshang Expressway (G1514). The mountains grow taller and tea plantations appear on every hillside.
4. Expressway Exit → Jiangxi Village (15–20 min) — After exiting near Yangzhuang Town (洋庄), the final stretch is on winding mountain roads through bamboo forests and terraced tea gardens. Beautiful — but bring motion sickness remedies if you’re sensitive.
Your driver drops you directly at the retreat entrance. Welcome to the mountains! 🏔️
The village sits in a peaceful valley surrounded by Wuyishan’s famous peaks, bamboo groves, and centuries-old tea plantations.
⏱ Total time door-to-door: approximately 4.5 – 5 hours
🔄 Transfers: 0 — one vehicle the entire way
Three legs: taxi → high-speed rail → taxi. About 30–60 minutes faster, but requires navigating Chinese train stations.
Total travel time: ~2h 45min – 3h 15min (travel) + waiting • Door-to-door: 3.5 – 4 hours • Transfers: 2
Distance: ~57 km (36 mi) • Duration: ~45 min • Cost: ~¥120–160 RMB (€15–20)
Exit arrivals and find the official taxi rank. Tell the driver: “福州南站” (Fúzhōu Nán Zhàn) — show this on your phone if needed. The taxi takes the Jichang Expressway (S81) west through Changle and Mawei District.

Distance: ~300 km by rail • Duration: 1h 20min – 1h 40min • Cost: ~¥150–200 RMB (€19–25) second class
China’s high-speed rail is world-class and an experience in itself. Pass through security, buy your ticket to 武夷山北 (Wǔyíshān Běi) at the counter or self-service machines, and allow 30 minutes before departure. Trains run 10+ per day.
Second class (二等座) is very comfortable with assigned seating, air conditioning, and power outlets. The train speeds at up to 300 km/h through the lush mountains of inland Fujian.
💡 Tip: Pre-book on Trip.com or 12306.cn to guarantee your seat — especially during Chinese holidays.
Distance: ~24 km (15 mi) • Duration: ~44 min • Cost: ~¥80–120 RMB (€10–15)
Tell the driver: “洋庄浆溪村” (Yángzhuāng Jiāngxī Cūn). The route heads west on the Ningshang Expressway before winding through mountain roads. The last 10–15 minutes pass through bamboo groves and tea gardens.
💡 Tip: Have a driver pre-arranged from the retreat rather than relying on random taxis — some local drivers may not know the exact village.

The journey is part of the experience. Whether watching the landscape change from your minibus window or racing through tunnels on the high-speed train, you’ll feel the transition from modern China to timeless mountain serenity.
We can’t wait to welcome you. 🙏
