Want to know when we launch the next GuateFlow Gathering?
(Expected Jan/Feb 2028)

Retreat in China? Yes! Ever since we visited this secluded, unique, and deeply inspiring part of the world and were introduced to the Chinese Flow community, we have wanted to create a retreat that allows the international community to have the same experience. And here we are!

With a beautiful venue set deep in the Wuji mountains, organised in collaboration with our Chinese friends and China Flow Festival, we invite you to the first international retreat in China — a unique opportunity to experience something truly special.

China Flow Retreat is an invitation into the unknown — a land shaped by legends, where martial roots meet modern flow, and every landscape feels alive with story. This is where flow and practice return to their essence.

Imagine yourself in the heart of the Wuyi Mountains — peaks rising through clouds, rivers carving ancient paths, temples quietly standing, defying time. You move, train, and explore, guided by world-class teachers and surrounded by a vibrant, deeply connected international community.

This is a 10-day immersion into practice, creativity, and connection: workshops that sharpen your skills, jams that ignite your expression, and moments that stay with you long after the journey ends.

It begins with 4 days of private retreat — a closed circle, full focus, real progress, and meaningful connection. Then it expands into 3 days of China Flow Fest (CFF) — performances, DJs, parties, and a wider flow community from Southeast Asia coming together. And for those who want more, an optional 2-day adventure exploring temples, waterfalls, and hidden natural gems — flowing, discovering, and experiencing China beyond the surface.

Lucero Ponce
hoop, silk fans, belly dance

Lucero Ponce is a Peruvian Flow Artist whose movement style is pure magic — blending hula hoop, belly dance, buugeng, and balancing into an expressive, hypnotic flow. Her vibe is a fusion of technical mastery and deep body awareness, turning every performance into an experience.

Lucero’s journey started in 2010 with modern, belly, and contemporary dance, along with yoga and meditation. Flow Arts entered her life in 2015, through hoop — and from there, everything expanded. She brings the grace of a dancer, the presence of a yogi, and the fire of a performer to every prop she touches.

As one half of Equilibra, her world-traveling duo with Gustavo Ollitta, Lucero has performed across 25+ countries, lighting up festival stages, retreats, and international shows. Whether she’s on stage or leading a workshop, she’s always innovating — blending circus, dance, and flow to inspire the next generation of movers.

VOJTA Stolbenko
Poi, Staff spinning, Staff Juggling, Body Movement

Meet Vojta, the Czech-born flow artist, acrobat, and an innovator in the Poi world today. Known for his next-level technique and high-energy performances, Vojta blends movement, fire, and creativity to push the boundaries of what’s possible with spinning.

With over a decade of experience, he’s not just a top-tier performer — he’s helped shape the global flow scene. He’s toured and trained with legendary troupes like Supercho, Cercle de Feu, Mandalights, and Phoenix Fire Dancers, lighting up stages from Europe to Asia and beyond. Whether it’s spinning fire, flipping through the air, or dropping precise tech combos, his flow is sharp, dynamic, and unforgettable.

Off stage, Vojta is just as impactful. He’s the creator of PoiTutorials.com, where he shares over 150 step-by-step tutorials and epic videos — including the viral hit The Future Is Now. He’s a passionate teacher, hosting workshops and retreats around the world, always down to share knowledge and hype up the next generation of spinners.

If you’re looking for inspo, innovation, and insane skill — Vojta delivers.

Kevin Aleri
contact Staff, ground work

In 2005, Kevin discovered the new art of fire performance. Immediately, he catapulted onto the stage and started busking in the streets before the great Parisian monuments. They founded the SuperCho company that same year. His shows quickly became a huge success thanks to his innovative and original ideas and his training as a sound engineer.

He has been performing all over the world. He is now also very active behind the stage, growing his company and doing a lot of organization. He’s designing acts and choreographies, and programming LED props. Programming LED props is another of his specialities, having made some of the first iconic shows, such as Concerto Chromatique. With his strong entrepreneurial spirit, he intends to take this company to the end of the dream!

Kevin is a master with Contact Staff and Double Staff. He’s also professionally performing with Poi, Buugeng, and Dragon Staff.

Thibault MICHEL
Movement and Dance, Juggling

Thibault Michel is a French creative artist in juggling and performance.Through his project Circographie, he explores the intersection of circus arts, human experience, and self-expression, using movement and narrative to inspire deeper reflection.

Laury Chanty
Buugeng, poi, DJ

Laury Chanty is a multi-talented artist blending music, technology, and live performance into one seamless experience.

As a producer and composer, he worked closely with Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo (Daft Punk) in the studio and collaborated with Rico the Wizard on “Feel It Coming.” He later sharpened his edge in modern sound design with Ben Cantil (Berklee / ZEE), pushing his sound into more experimental territory.

On stage, Laury is the co-director of the SuperCho company alongside Kévin Arleri, leading a crew of ten juggling artists. His work mixes fire juggling, illusion, and cutting-edge tech, creating shows that feel both raw and futuristic.

Trained in new magic at the CNAC (National Circus Arts Conservatory), he approaches every project as a full creative playground—blending storytelling, choreography, music, scenography, and media into one cohesive vision.

And when he’s not building shows, you’ll find him behind the decks—bringing that same energy to the dancefloor as a DJ at China Flow Retreat.

Full days of workshops, practice, and connection. Each day builds on the last, with space for both growth and those unexpected moments that often become the most memorable.

On the 23rd, we’ll step out the routine for a special afternoon excursion — a chance to explore the nearby ancient village of Xia Mei (下梅村) wich dates back over 600 years, to the early Ming Dynasty (around the 14th–15th century). Connect, experience the culture, and explore the surroundings together.

September 25th–27th — CFF!
The energy rises as the China Flow Festival begins. Expect even more workshops, performances, music, parties and celebrations — a vibrant, collective experience where everything comes alive.

September 28th–29th — Optional: Adventure & Exploration
We shift into a slower, more relaxed rhythm — time to explore, connect, and enjoy the surroundings together. Some will begin their journey home, while many stay to soak in these final shared moments.

One day, we’ll dive into the beauty of the Wuyi Mountains (Wuyishan) — where the retreat takes place. Expect nature, fresh air, and a peaceful bamboo raft ride along the river.

The other day, we’ll wander through local villages and temples, discovering the culture and atmosphere of the region at a gentle pace.

Buffets That Hit (3x a Day)
Train hard, flow hard… eat really good. You get 3 buffet meals a day included, loaded with fresh, local flavors including vegetables from their permaculture garden! Veggie or meat — you’re covered. It’s your time to refuel, chill, and vibe with the crew between sessions.

Workshops, Jams & Flow State
Days are stacked with workshops, skill-sharing, and jams. Some sessions are guided, others just happen — those random moments that turn into your favorite memories. Whether you’re leveling up or just flowing for fun, there’s space for you here.

Yep — 60+ hours to dive into. Different props, all levels, endless ways to explore and grow your flow. Schedule drops before we start… but just know, it’s gonna be stacked!

This is where nature, culture, and flow come together. You’ll move, train, chill, and connect surrounded by mountains, forests, and water. There’s even a lake that transforms into a water stage with a hidden temple… yeah, it’s as magical as it sounds.

Wuyi Mountains Adventure

September 28th–29th — Optional: Adventure & Exploration

After the intensity of the previous days, we ease into exploring the beautiful surroundings. These days are about adventure, enjoying the moment, and spending quality time together in a more relaxed rhythm. While some will begin their journey home, others will stay and soak in these final shared experiences.

A key highlight is a full day immersed in the Wuyi Mountains (Wuyishan) — the very place where the retreat is set. This UNESCO World Heritage site is known for its dramatic cliffs, winding rivers, and rich tea culture.

This is a landscape shaped by time and tradition, where lush tea fields stretch across the hills, and mist often lingers between the peaks. The air feels fresher, the pace slower — it’s the kind of place that naturally brings you back to center.

We’ll spend the day exploring this unique environment — walking through nature, taking in panoramic views, and experiencing the quiet, grounding energy that makes this region so special.

If you feel like it, you can also join an optional bamboo raft ride, drifting gently down the river between towering rock formations — a simple, almost meditative way to see the mountains from another angle.

On the second day, we’ll shift into a more cultural exploration — visiting nearby villages and temples, getting a glimpse of local life, and experiencing the quieter, human side of the region. It’s a chance to slow down even more, wander without a plan, and take in the details — from traditional architecture to small, everyday moments that make this place feel so unique.

⏳ How long can you stay?

You can stay in China for up to 30 days visa-free.
The countdown starts from 00:00 on the day after you arrive.

👉 Example (China Flow Retreat):
If you arrive on September 19, your 30 days start on September 20 — meaning you can easily stay for the full China Flow Retreat (September 20–30) and still have plenty of time before needing to leave China.

⚠️ What are the requirements?

To enter visa-free, you need a valid ordinary passport and a clear purpose of visit such as tourism or attending a retreat. In some cases, you may be asked to show a return or onward ticket and accommodation details.

🛂 Not Eligible for Visa-Free Entry? (Including USA)

If your country isn’t on the visa-free list — like the United States — don’t worry. You can still join the retreat without any issues. You’ll just need to apply for a tourist visa (L visa) before traveling.

🇺🇸 For US Citizens (and others not eligible)

China currently does not offer visa-free entry for US passport holders, so you’ll need to apply in advance. The good news is that it’s a standard and straightforward process, and thousands of travelers complete it every year without problems.

📄 What is the Tourist Visa (L Visa)?

This is the most common visa for visiting China. It allows you to travel for tourism, attend retreats, events, and workshops, and explore the country. It is typically valid for 30 to 60 days per stay and is often issued as single or multiple entry.

What you’ll need

The application usually requires a valid passport (6+ months validity), a completed application form, a recent passport photo, a flight reservation or travel plan, and accommodation details or an invitation letter. For the retreat, we can provide confirmation documents if needed.

Where to apply

You’ll apply through the official Chinese visa system via the China Visa Application Center: https://www.visaforchina.cn/
US-specific portal: https://www.visaforchina.cn/globle/

⏳ How long does it take?

Processing usually takes around 4–10 working days. It’s recommended to apply at least 3–6 weeks in advance to avoid stress.

💡 Tips to make it easy

Apply early, double-check your documents, and consider booking flexible flights. If needed, reach out to us for an invitation letter to support your application.

🌿 Is it worth it?

While it requires a bit more preparation, once approved you’ll have full freedom to travel within China, including to the Wuyi Mountains for the retreat.

All levels, for any prop or activity, are welcome to join! We’ll offer beginning, intermediate, and advanced options for most techniques. For the Poi workshops, we split the group into different levels.

To benefit the most from this retreat, familiarise yourself with the basic poi moves, such as 3-beat weaves (forward and backwards), windmills, watermills, hip-reels, turns (butterflies, same-time, and split-time), and buzzsaws.

If you can’t do some of the moves listed above, don’t worry! We will teach you that. However, if you want to be prepared, look up some tutorials; we recommend Poi Tutorials.com, which starts as a beginner for only $4.95 per month.

You don’t need to know other attendees to share a room!

If you want to share a room with other attendees, we’ll try to make a match. You can share your preferences with us; if you prefer to stay with people of the same gender, we’ll try to find matching roommates.

If you want to share a room with friend(s) or a partner, you don’t have to buy all the tickets at the same time.

You can reserve separately, and everyone buys only their own deposit ticket. When purchasing the ticket, please leave a note that you want to share the room with friend(s) or a partner! Or send me a message at +336 3456 0233 to confirm you want to share.
